He was born on February 3, 1928 in New Haven, CT to Joseph and Mabel Bussmann. Lt. Bussmann, U.S. Navy (Ret) served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Bussmann, a son, Sgt. Rick Bussmann, USAF, a grandson, Thomas Bussmann, and his sister, Patricia Reynolds.
Dick is survived by two sons, Tom Bussmann and wife Deborah of Danbury, CT; Jim Bussmann and wife Cynthia of Carolina Beach, NC; one daughter, Sheila Heath and husband Bob of Lancaster, OH; four grandchildren, Harrison, Casey, Desmond and Carly, one great-granddaughter, Scotti Mae, and a niece, Donna Belcher of New Haven, CT.
Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
