Ricky Joe Lail of Vanceboro, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Leatherman Lail and his parents Joe & Faye Lail of Maiden, NC and his children Joseph (Alayna – fiancée) Detroit, MI, Timothy Lail, Jennifer Mitchell (Billy) Lincolnton, NC, Megan Green (Neil) Mt. Vernon, IN, daughter-in-law, Brandy Caton of Bridgeton and brother-in-law Ashley Houser, Columbia, SC, his sisters, Trina Stamey (David) Newton, NC and Becky Simpson (Ken) Monroe, NC. His grandchildren, Logan (Dalora), Alyssa (Hunter – fiancée), Connor, Blake, Riley Grace, Emma Rose, Brody, Cody, Trinity and Cali. He is predeceased by his sister, Kathy Houser.

Ricky spent 23 years at Duke Energy as a nuclear maintenance instructor. He retired after 17 years as a maintenance supervisor for North Carolina Department of Corrections in Vanceboro. He grew up in Maiden, NC and graduated from Maiden High School in 1969. He attended Luther Rice Seminary and was a US Army Veteran.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, at Cotten Funeral Home at 6:00 - 8:00pm

I worked in training at McGuire nuclear station for many years with Rick. He was a very funny and had had great sense of humor. I always enjoyed his company. We shared the same opinion on just about everything. I also miss his constant jiggling of change in his pocket. To the family I’m very sorry for your loss!!
