Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was awarded a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He was a member Cove City Missionary Baptist Church. the Cove City Volunteer Fire Department, the EAA Chapter of Winterville Flight Club and Ionic Lodge No 583, AF & AM. Bobby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a friend to many who will be greatly missed.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Horace Byrd and Ellen Townsend. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Ann Leamy Byrd; his daughter, Christina Byrd Glancy (Kennith); two grandchildren, Thomas Glancy and Amber Glancy; his brothers Durwood Byrd and Tony Byrd and his sister, Starlene Brown. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Leamy; sisters-in-law, Mary Newton, Therese Butch and Veronica Bennett ; brother-in-law, Walter Leamy III, and his devoted special furry friend, Buddy.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 26th at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 27th at Cove City Missionary Baptist Chuch with Rev. Wayne Best officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will follow the service in the Tyndall Family Cemetery in Pink Hill. Following the burial, lunch will be provided for the family and friends at the church. Please join them for a time of fellowship and celebrating Bobby’s life.
