Mr. Evans was a gifted man. He had so many talents building, carpentry, music, restoring tractors and machinery. He was the driving force behind "The Christianares".He was a long standing former member and Sunday school teacher at Vanceboro Pentecostal Holiness Church and most recent years Bridgeton Pentecostal Church. He loved fishing and being on the water. He had a award winning career in sales with Tidewater Equipment Co. in Chocowinity and Pioneer Machinery in Greenville. He established his business " Duke Sound & Music Company" after coproducing albums of the Christianaires. He installed sound systems so that church's all over our state could fill their walls with Hymns that would promote God's Story. Robert "Duke" was from a large family and he loved his family. His family will miss him.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Peggy Hicks Evans; Daughters, Sherry Lynn Evans Moore ( Eddie) of Vanceboro, Lynda Kay Evans of Ernul and Melanie Evans Jones of Vanceboro; sister, Gail Gaskins (Linwood) of Vanceboro; brother, Kenny Evans (Barbara) of New Bern; granddaughter, Lauren “Cotton” Moore.
His funeral service is scheduled for 2:30pm Friday, October 12, 2018 at West Vanceboro Church of God. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the Church. Burial will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens.
