

Robert was an amazing man, never a kinder soul. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He would help anyone, do anything for anybody; give you the shirt off his back. Robert was a very talented woodworker, loved antique cars and trucks.
Robert worked for The Roberts Company in Winterville, NC for 27 years as a welder. He was a member and trustee of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Antioch Men’s Fellowship. Robert loved going to NASCAR races, his favorite race car drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Richard Petty and Kyle Petty. Robert loved spending time with his family and his church family, telling stories about the “good old days.”
“Poppie” as his loving granddaughter called him, loved going on trips with his family. One of his favorite trips was to Nashville, TN. He loved country and bluegrass music. He and his wife enjoyed watching Braves games and going to watch the team play at the stadium in Atlanta.
Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Gaskins, his father, Silas Gray Gaskins, grandparents, Paul and Ruby Gaskins.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruthie Evans Gaskins. His daughter, Staci Hudler Chase, granddaughter, Kailyn Brianna Chase; brother Linwood Lee Gaskins; niece, Nicole Gaskins; great-niece, Christa Price and great-nephew, Donovan Price.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 3:00pm.
