Robert Leslie Jones Jr.

Robert is survived by his mother, Rachel Morgan of Beaufort, NC, his father, Robert Jones, Sr., of South Carolina, his daughter, Stephanie Jones of Florida, his nephew, Steven Jones of New Mexico, his special friend, Krista Jernigan and his two beloved cats, Ben and Jerry. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Jones.

Robert was a son, father, cousin, uncle, and friend, and he took those roles seriously. He was a lover of nature and enjoyed trips in his Jeep. He was an amazing cook. His cooking didn’t just feed people – it brought them together. He loved fishing and it gave him peace whether the fish were biting or not. Robert was open to adventure. He was equal parts warrior, pirate, fisherman, hunter, cat daddy and grilling legend.

Robert’s laughter and stories will be greatly missed, and his memory will be treasured forever.

Funeral services will be provided by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory of New Bern. A celebration of life will be held on 11AM Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory A graveside service will follow at the Sandhill Cemetery in Reelsboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Robert’s honor to the North Carolina Wildlife Federation (ncwf.org) and the Craven-Pamlico Animal Services at 1639 Old Airport Rd., New Bern, NC 28562.
