Robert Marshall Meager (Pappy), 71, of New Bern, NC formally of Bridgeport and Streetsboro, OH peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 with his loving wife by his side.
One of 16 children, Robert was born on June 20, 1947 to Robert, Sr and Elizabeth (Harper) Meager in Bellaire, Ohio. Robert is a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Navy from January 1965 to October 1972. While serving 3 tours with the Underwater Demolition Team in Vietnam, Robert was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Robert worked as a coalminer at the Saginaw Mine in St. Clairsville, Ohio for 10 years and a truck driver for 23years. After retiring in 2009 he moved to New Bern, NC where he resided until his passing.
Robert was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Legion, as well as a past member of the Shiners organization and the Blue Lodge Free Masons.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Donna Hamilton Meager; 5 children; Lisa Vatalaro of Ravenna Ohio, Rob Meager of Ravenna Ohio, Lori Jacobs of Pittsburg PA, Chris Meager of New Bern North Carolina, and Carrie (Eric) Queen of New Bern, North Carolina; 7 Grandchildren; and 14 siblings, William (Mary) Meager of Glenco, Ohio, Mark (Kalene) Meager of Glenco, Ohio, Edward (Sue) Meager of Neffs, Ohio, Charles (Joy) Meager of Jacobsburgh, Ohio, Paul Meager of Glenco, Ohio, James (Tina) Meager of Neffs, Ohio, June Conners of Brooksville, Fl, Dorothy (Dan) Philliphs of Brooksville, Fl, Carol Agar of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Connie (John) Coutz of Belmont, Ohio, Jenny (Bill) Russell of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Elizabeth (Gene) Helms of Jacobsburgh, Ohio, and Madlyn Meager of Citrus Spring, Fl.

A ceremony to celebrate Robert’s life and military services will be held in St Clairsville, Ohio at the Eagles Hall on National Road from 11:00-1:00 pm. All those who knew and loved Robert are invited to attend.
