He was a lifetime resident of Pamlico County. He is preceded in death by his wife Dean Swindell, his parents, John F. Swindell, Sr., and Rosa M. Cox Swindell, a son, Robert “Bob” Earl Swindell, Jr., his brothers and sisters, John “JF” Swindell, Jr., Cecil Swindell, Sr., Harry Swindell, Sr., and Albin “Big Boy” Swindell, Mary Williams, Florence Panos and Aileen Ashley.
Robert is survived by his son, Troy A. Swindell and grandson, Troy A. Swindell, Jr., both of the home, special friend, Dianne Spain Neal, brother, Franklin Swindell, Sr., sister, Ellen Dixon and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, June 23, 2016 at New Hope Church. Burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery.
