Rose Bottcher, beloved Mother and Friend, died unexpectedly at her home in Fairfield Harbor on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Rose was born in Harlem, New York on June 1, 1934, the oldest daughter of Vincent G and Virginia G of New York City. In 2006, Rose and husband Jimmy retired to the New Bern area from Oak Ridge, New Jersey. Rose and James "Jimmy" P. Bottcher were married 44 years before his death in 2018.
Rose was an active member of Saint Paul Catholic Church and assisted her husband in the care of Old Saint Paul Church on Middle Street for many years. She volunteered with the Knights of Columbus yard sale team and was a former member of the Elks Lodge. Rose will be especially remembered for her friendliness and helpfulness to friend and stranger alike and her personality was larger than life.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Marino and her life partner Stephen DiPresso of Oak Ridge, NJ several nieces and nephews and long-time friend Roy Siesener of Fairfield Harbor. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Anastasia and Isabel Bosco.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of Saint Paul Catholic Church on Friday, December 23, at 9:30 a.m. A Rosary will be said at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow visitation at 10:00 a.m. Internment will take place at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery in Oak Ridge, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Saint Paul Catholic Church.
