I was so sorry to hear of Miss Ruby's passing. I only had the opportunity to meet her and spend time with her on a couple of occasions, but she was a delightful lady who will be missed. My prayers are with the family.

I know you are grieving because you will miss her very much.  But look toward where she is now, with her Savior and all the family and friends who went berfoe her.  My prayers are with you.  She was a dear friend of my mother, Lena Hill, and I can see them catching up together.  I also countered her as a friend of mine.

Grandma was a wonderfull,loving, caring person. I have alot of fond memories through the years.Last tag, climbing the pecan tree and pine cone cleanup even filtered down to the great-grandchildren.Working in the garden, picking grapes and figs always was an enjoyable time. These are a few memories over the years.Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone. Grandma will be with grandpa now and they will be our quardian angels together.

To all the Davis family, so sorry for the loss of a good woman, she taught me in Sunday School at Neuse Forest Presbyterian Church.  She had a great voice and sang many solos while in the choir there.  I think the last time I saw her was at my mother's funeral in 98'.  May God be with each of you and Bless You during this time.

Dear Charles
I wanted to let you know how very sorry I am for your loss. I don't know if you remember me or not but we were classmates at New Bern High in 1954-1958 and although you have been to some of our latest get-togethers, I have not ben able to attend when you were there. I knew your Mom in later years in the Eastern Star and I found her to be one of the sweetest ladies I had ever met. She was always so gracious and pleasant, always with a lovely ready smile. I know you will miss her. I will be lifting you up in prayer for the Lord to bless you during this time of grief. Take care and I hope to maybe see you at one of our gatherings before too long. You may not remember me.  My name is Sheila Davis McClung.  I am the daughter of Spencer and Mildred Davis.  My mother and Hazel Saulter were sisters and I spent a great deal of my childhood visiting in the Saulter home.  I was the scrawny kid who played outside catching insects and digging up worms to fish with in the pond.  I believe that because of my fascination with insects, Aunt Hazel gave me the nickname of "Teedeebug".  Mike and I spent a lot of time together playing outside, where I  stepped on many a sand spur in the yard.  Ouch!   I remember  you boys and both of your parents, Mr. Henry and Miss Ruby.  Mr. Henry was such a sweet, gentle man who loved taking care of his garden.  Miss Ruby would always walk over and spend some time with my parents and me when we would visit.  Both Uncle Fuller and Mr. Henry kept immaculate homes and yards.  Everything was so beautiful with all of the pretty trees and flowers blooming.  My father died in 1980. My mother died in 2005 and your Mom came to the funeral.  That meant so much to me! I'm sure that she, Mr. Henry and Fuller and Hazel are all sitting together right now......catching up on everything.  I take comfort in knowing  that they are all happy and at peace.  Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.  We grew up as next door FAMILIES and our lives were enriched by the times our two families spent together.  We have so many fond memories of fun things we all did together such as oyster roasts in the back yard, swinging under the big oak tree, shelling peas and shucking corn, etc.  We have all come to realize that nothing stays the same, but we are always able to go back and remember.  Even with the changes that happen in our lives, we will always have the memories of our parents and each other.  We remember looking out mama's window and watching Mr. Henry working in the garden and Miss Ruby coming across the yard to sit under the tree on a hot summer day.  Because of the way our parents lived their lives, we are able to know that they are at peace.   We wish you comfort in the difficult days ahead.

There are people in our lives that make a difference.  My grandmother, Ruby was one of those people.  She entered my life with open arms and love.  Her feisty and vibrant personality added an extra spark to my life and my son, Kyle.  We feel blessed to have had her in our lives; she was a very special person.


Even though we are unable to be at her ceremony of peace this weekend – she will forever a part of Kyle's and my life.  

Our fond memories of her will last forever.  We know that she will now rest in peace with Henry and be amongst us for always.
