Sandra Edna Bushnell

Sandra Bushnell (78) of Syracuse, New York passed away on July 1,2020 in New Bern, NC. Sandra was most known as “Ma”, as she was a mother to so many, and will never know the impact she had on so many loved one’s lives. She is known as being the most loving, and caring mother and grandmother. Every act she made was for her children. She was known as being the most selfish, and stubborn person, but it was all out of love for wanting the absolute best for her family. There are so many memories that will never be forgotten; such as making Christmas the most memorable for all, summers filled with swimming, and her passion and talent for art that she brought to life with her family. Sandra was also known to have the best German potato salad that will never be replaced. When her kids, and grandkids reached out for advice, they knew that they were getting the bluntest, and most honest advice, as painful, and hard as it was, she was always right, and she knew that. We were all so proud when she decided for her to give up the snow and cold, for the sun and sand, and moved to North Carolina with her youngest daughter, Brooke.

Sandra is survived by her children, Thomas Bushnell, Jacqueline Scholten, Jeff Bushnell (Kelly), Wendy Smith (Jim), Dawn Dunagan (Ricky), and Brooke Sweeney (James). Her grandchildren, Matthew Bushnell, Erica Hannah (Tyler), Christopher Bushnell, Nicole Clark (Eric), Hillary Sweeney, Samantha Bushnell, Kimberly Scholten, Christina Sweeney, Max Bushnell, Brian Bushnell, Joshua Auker, Jimmy Sweeney, and Abbigail Dunagan. She is survived by her great grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Myles, Beau, Reed, and Jackson. Sandra is survived by be her siblings David, Yvonne, and Marie.

Sandra is preceded in death by Sandra’s son Mark Bushnell, and her parents Mary Agatha Matthews and Robert James Black. We know as her family, how at peace she must be with our heavenly father, and her son Mark by her side.

Due to COVID 19, and Sandra’s wishes to be buried in NY, services are postponed at this time. When we are able, we will celebrate the life of Sandra when we can all be together, and remember the memories and impact this amazing woman had on our lives.
