Sean Adrian DeFreitas Sr., 36, of New Bern, sadly left his family and friends too early on Monday, May 31, 2021.

A handsome, energetic baby boy was born on November 8, 1984, in Georgetown, Guyana, to Sharon DeFreitas and Linden Browne. An opportunity of a lifetime came from his grandmother's sacrifice that brought Sean to the United States of America in 1995 with his six family members. Raised in Plainsboro, New Jersey, he quickly picked up the famous names "Frito Lay" and "StarBwoy" at his high school, West Windsor Plainsboro High school North due to his innate gifted hands of sports (Basketball, Football & Track). After receiving five scholarships to multiple institutions, Sean attended Wesley College and Johnson & Wales University.

With his soft voice & charismatic approach, Sean soared in the hotel industry. He loved people, experiences and stepped up to any leadership role he was given. He achieved many awards within his profession, from The 2019 House Profit Award (highest ROI in the company) to The 2019 RevPar Award (Most improved hotel). His mission was not only to hit his quarterly targets but to provide high-quality service to his customers.

Sean is lovingly survived by his parents; his wife Julie DeFreitas, their twins Savannah and Sean Jr.; sisters Caroline DeFreitas and Shondelle Browne; brothers, Seon DeFreitas (Aiyisha), Sheldon Browne, Shevin Browne, Simeon Browne, and Stephen Browne; step-daughters, Kayla Perry (Kyle), Emily Owen; niece and nephews, and an endless number of family and friends.

Sean is reunited in heaven with his grandparents Leon and Yvonne DeFreitas. Sean will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. In the end, it's not the number of years in your life that counts, but it's the life in your years and the people that you've touched. To know Sean is to love Sean.

My heartfelt condolences to my brother, Linden, my nephews Shevin, Stephen and Simeon, my sister, Darlene and the other siblings. I had not met Sean, but you guys talked about your close relationship, and I know this is difficult. Remember the precious times. To Sean' s wife and beautiful children, and their extended family, "May God keep you in His care." "The peace of God that passes all understanding," I pray, for Sean's mom and the De Freitas family, "will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Sleep in perfect peace Sean!🙏.

Every time we would meet or talk with Sean, he’d always be radiating with positive energy, willing to outperform himself with every goal he was given. There was no task too big for him, and he exemplified what leadership entails. We will miss his contagious smile. He left behind very big shoes to fill, gone too soon, but will never be forgotten. A tragedy still too difficult to believe.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the DeFrietas family for strength, comfort and healing during this difficult time.

"Gone too soon"
"Whom the Lord Loves die young"
This earth plain is not our home and will never be our home ,We are just passing through playing a part on this big stage. We try to play our role on this big stage with dignity and with honor but we do not know how " long" , and what time is alloted to us .
But while we walk on this earth plain we continuously try to do what is right.
And I know ,that your steps were always in tune with the Master.
This is not the end it is just the beginning

Sean, your work here is done, and although we need you here with your family, we know that God has a bigger mission for you. So we will continue to celebrate you everytime we see your family..... but we will rejoice one day because we know we'll meet again!! Fly high with the angels my friend!! Sleep in peace!
May God welcome you at his table and may God grant the Defreitas family all the strength they will need in this time of mourning!
