Sherry Salter

Sherry was born on March 17, 1948 in New Bern. She spent her life in the community she loved, leaving behind a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched.

Sherry devoted her professional life to the care and growth of young people, serving for many years as a teacher and school counselor. Known for her warm and helpful nature, she had a genuine gift for connecting with others and offering guidance when it was needed most.

Outside of her work, Sherry found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She was artistic and creative by nature, and had a deep appreciation for music, flowers, and plants. Her dogs were a cherished part of her daily life and brought her much happiness. Sherry drew strength and purpose from her faith and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Piner and Ruby D. Piner, and her beloved husband, David C. Salter. She is survived by her son, David W. Salter, his wife, Shannon and her grandsons, Nate and Ben Salter, who were a source of tremendous pride and joy. She will be missed by all who knew her.
