Stephen Donald Davenport

Stephen Donald “Don” Davenport, 86, departed this world for his Heavenly reward Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on December 27, 1934, to the late Stephen M. Davenport and Alwilda Caudell Davenport. Don was married 54 years to the love of his life, the late Clara S. Davenport.

Don served his country in the United States Army. He retired from retail management service after 50 plus years. Don was a member and formerly served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher at Bridgeton Free Will Baptist Church in Bridgeton, NC. He attended Fairmount General Baptist Church in St. Peters, MO, for the past six years.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Marlton Davenport, brother Willie Davenport, sister Sallie Coor, his twin brother Benjamin Ronald Davenport, and sister Ella Mae Alphin.

Don is survived by his children, Donald S. Davenport, and wife Kristine, of Sacramento, CA; B. Lynn Davenport, and wife Pam, of Dardenne Prairie, MO; and Brenda D. Harris, and husband Greg, of Chatham, IL. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 O’clock am, Saturday, October 23 at Cotten Funeral Home. Burial will be 2:00 O’clock pm, Saturday at Pineview Cemetery, HWY 111 in Seven Springs, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 O’clock pm, Friday, October 22 at Cotten Funeral Home.
