It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Edward Foster, who passed away on May 13, 2025 at The Home Place of New Bern. Born on December 7, 1953 in Whittier, California, Stephen Foster was a hardworking professional, working as a regional manager for automobile transport trucking industry, and later in life retiring from Fidelity Investments as a benefits manager for GM.
A loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband, Stephen Foster is survived by his wife of 52 years, Angelique vanVreeswijk-Foster, Sheryl Ingle his sister, his children, Danielle and Andrew Foster; and his grandchildren, Noah, Sarah, Teresa, Amelia and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew (Jeff) and Deloris (Dee) Foster.
He was a passionate baseball fan, who also loved to play golf. He loved to fish and had some great fishing stories. He had a great voice and sang in church choirs and was a member of the Opera Southwest.
He was a very strong and faithful believer and it was his testimony to those around him to love and trust God with all his heart and even through all his difficult challenges with his health. Each morning he would begin his day with reading his Bible. How many times he quietly read his Bible from Genesis to Revelations! And towards the end of his life when so many memories escaped him, he would still joyfully sing and know all the words to his favorite praise and worship songs.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC followed by a reception at La Casetta Restaurant in New Bern. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Stephen Edward Foster.
