

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Thomas Alfred Eborn did just that. Born on October 26, 1943, to Thomas A. Eborn Sr. and Bettie Morse Eborn in Croatan, NC. Tom was a proud farmer until the very end. Farming was more than his livelihood—it was his passion and way of life. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to the land, working from sunrise to sunset and often long beyond.
His dedication and commitment to agriculture were recognized throughout his life. In 1973, he was honored as Craven County's Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. In 1983, his son, Dale, joined him in the family farming operation. In 1987, Tom, Linda, and Dale were recognized as Craven County's Farm Family of the Year.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Thomas A. Eborn Sr., mother Bettie Morse Eborn and a sister, Leona Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Eborn; his son, Thomas Dale Eborn and wife Regina; their son, Thomas Dale Eborn Jr. (D.J.), who his granddaddy was proud of and Alyson Eborn Dupree and husband Zack and their children, Hadley and Huntley; daughter, Eva Burton and husband Lee of Gold Hill, NC, children Amand, Tori and Ellie and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty White and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 3 pm in the chapel of Cotten Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Boyd and Harry Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Croatan Community Cemetery.
