Thomas (Tom, Pop-pop, He-So-Funny) Herbert Slater walked into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born to the late Elmer and Elizabeth Slater, it is rumored that he was never still; a constantly moving force, meeting the needs of his friends and family or simply enjoying the outdoors while hunting, fishing, biking, or kayaking.
He found peace and salvation through his faith in Jesus; he was the “hands and feet” of Jesus in his role as deacon at Westminster Baptist Church for many years. Tom’s greatest joy came from his family; weekly dinners, cross-country adventures with his wife, and time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert (Bob) Slater. He is survived by Sandy, his wife of 59 years, daughters Kim Duvall (Tim) & Beth Slater-Magee (Chuck), grandchildren Hailey Humbert (Aaron), Lindsay McCollum (Aaron), and Grant Duvall (Chloe), and great grandchildren Celia Humbert, Emma Humbert, and Simon Duvall.
