Thomas "Tom Tinker" Clyde Williams Sr.

On May 18, 2017, Thomas C. Williams, Sr, took his last breath here on earth, and his first in Heaven. After seeing his Savior face to face, we are confident that he has been reacquainted with his mother, Lillie Bell Williams, his father, William Leeford Williams, his sister, Sue W. Ferguson, his brothers, Bill, Glenn, and David, his son-in-law, Joseph E. Lewis, and many other family and friends, too numerous to mention.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Lee Williams, (Lib), two brothers, Raymond H. Williams (Wanda) and R.A. “Bobby” Williams (Cathy).

Thomas is also survived by his children, Thomas C. Williams, Jr. (Nancy), Judy W. Lewis, Jodie W. Waller, (Hubert), and Sandra W. Gulliver (Keith), and by his 9 grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis, JoLea L. Myles and Jordan Lewis, Aaron Williams and Tyler Williams, Josh Waller and Caleb Waller, Adam Gulliver and Ross Gulliver, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Known by many as “ Tom Tinker”, he was born April 15, 1929 and grew up in the New Bern area, with a passion for eastern North Carolina waterways.

Graduating from New Bern High School and enlisting in the U.S. Navy, Thomas proudly served during the Korean War upon the USS Sullivan 537.

He enjoyed various occupations including Maola, Pepsi, and Hatteras Yachts, In the early 70’s he established ‘Tom Tinker Signs’ utilizing his talents and love of painting.

Thomas was an active member of Pleasant Acres Church (New Life) where he served as choir director for many years. His rich tenor voice rang out with many hymns, glorifying his Heavenly Father.

Affectionately known as Dad, Granddaddy, Uncle Tommy, Brother Tommy and friend, he expressed his love for us through his many hand-crafted gifts. Tireless in imagination and talent, he was always ready to create. He was blessed by sharing these works of art with us. We shall always cherish these treasures along with the beautiful emotions and memories they represent.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to “his girls” and the Community Hospice staff for the wonderful care shown to “Daddy” during his illness.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel, preceded by visitation with the family at 2:00. A private burial will be held at a later date.
