He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his son, Randy Walters of Winterville; two sisters, Betty Herring of St. Pauls, NC; Libby Gaultney of Gloucester, VA.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 16, 2012 at the Walters Family Cemetery, in Barnesville, NC.
