He was a kind and generous man who truly never met a stranger. Tim was a friend to so many and will be missed by each of the lives that he touched.
Above all else, Tim loved his family deeply. He is survived by two sons Matt Jones and wife Lauren, and Bailey Jones. He was the proud grandfather of two; Charli, who sweetly nicknamed him “Happy,” and Harrison Jones; his former wife and forever friend, Edie Jones; sister, Christine Rorie and husband Allen; and brother Danny Jones and wife Amy. Also left to cherish his memory are nieces Malisa Watts, Somer Hulsen, and Paige Murphy.
He was predeceased by his parents Chris and Frances Jones and nephew Corey Jones.
Tim graduated from New Bern Senior High School and attended Mount Olive College and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He then went on to work in the insurance business for over 30 years.
Anyone who knew Tim would agree that so many of the times he cherished the most were those spent on the golf course with family and friends and the countless hours that he spent coaching baseball. He carried so much love and pride for his players and truly had a lasting impact on each and every one of them.
A Celebration of Tim's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Mission of Coastal Carolina, 1209 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
For all who struggle, as he did, or anyone who loves someone who is struggling now, please honor Tim by remembering that there is always hope and help for healing (1 Cor 10:13).
