She was born November 19, 1921 in North Carolina, the daughter of the later Major Franklin and Gertrude Luvetues Lewis Barrington. She was a homemaker and a member of Ruth’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Rainey Turner, a sister, Lucille Robertson and a brother, Orie M. Barrington.
She is survived by her son, J. Douglas (Doug) Turner and wife Deloris of Trion, GA; one sister, Vera Horne of New Bern; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 29, 2011 at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Friday, October 28, 2011 at Cotten
