A resident of New Bern for the last thirty-six years, Violet was born in Bellevue, Pittsburgh, PA to Frank and Catherine Trzcinski/Tracy on June 13, 1925. Growing up in Bellevue she graduated high school and went on to Carnegie Tech becoming a Mechanical Draftsman. Violet was very proud of the fact that she was one of the first female draftsmen ever hired at Pittsburgh Steel.
On September 3, 1949 she married, John Leo Perschy, the love of her life. They were happily devotedly married for 71 years. She travelled the world with him as a Naval wife; while lovingly raising their three children along the way. When they settled in Greenlawn, Long Island, New York, she entered a new career as a Dental Assistant; a job she very much enjoyed. Violet was an avid gardener and her gardens were the showcase of the neighborhood. She was active in her church and community.
In 1987 Violet and John happily retired to New Bern, NC. First in River Bend then, in their later years, at McCarthy Court Independent Living. Devoted to her faith, Violet happily volunteered her time and became involved with many activities at St. Paul's Catholic Church. She joined the local bowling league, served countless volunteer hours at the Navy Relief and just enjoyed doing all the things that New Bern has to offer. She and John enjoyed travelling and did so extensively both in their RV and cruising. In her last years Violet was a resident of Home Place.
She is predeceased by her husband, John, and her daughter, Lorraine Perschy. Violet is survived by her son, John Alan (Teresa) Perschy, her daughter, Karen (Francois) Simon, her grandchildren, Philippe and Elise Simon and Kyle, Hunter and Logan Perschy.
Violet was a loving and generous mother, always putting her family first. This was her favorite job.
She was always a lady, trying her best always to do what was loving and appropriate. She will be terribly missed by all those who loved and knew her.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday April 5, 2024 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday April 4, 2024 at Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
