William served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was proud to be a Veteran. His life reflected a steady sense of duty and quiet strength—qualities that carried through both his service and the many years that followed.
A lifelong rider, William found lasting joy in motorcycles and the open road. He also enjoyed firearms, horses, and his dogs, and he valued the simple, honest satisfactions of time spent with the things he loved.
William worked in construction and especially enjoyed historical restoration, bringing care and respect to the work of preserving what mattered. His hands and his attention to detail helped keep pieces of the past standing strong for the future.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Cheever; and his children, Lauren Williams, Seth Cheever, Marc Cheever, Terry Cheever, and Natalie Cheever.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Cheever and James Cheever.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 11th, at Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Sarah Carrol and all the nursing staff at Carolina East Medical Center for their care and support.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of William Michael Cheever.
