He served our country in the Army and Coast Guard.
He is survived by his sons, Richard E. Hargett of Caswell, NC; Michael T. Hargett of Craven Co.; Jamie I. Taylor and Robert R. Withey, both of New Bern; two daughers, Deborah Toler of Ernul; Margaret Hargett Withey of New Bern; two brothers, Kimbell Hargett of New Bern; John A. Hargett of Lexington; three sisters, Gwen Moore of New Bern; Deborah Lynn Payne of Franklin, TN; Judy Worley of Apex; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 5, 2013 at New Bern National Cemetery.
