William “Bill” Harlan, USMC (Ret) 71, of New Bern, died November 7, 2013 at home.

He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and he was a member of the Korean Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Yong Harlan, one son, Ronald Harlan of Minnesota; two step-sons, Michael Lockhart of Wilmington and George Lockhart of Georgia; one daughter, Roxanna Brown of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 7:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC.
