

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William lived a life full of purpose, service, and creativity. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Charles Sherman.
William was a long-time and faithful member of Cherry Point Baptist Church, where he served as both a deacon and a member of the choir. His love of music extended beyond the church, as he was also a talented violinist. A true Renaissance man, he became a pilot at the age of 18 and later dedicated 35 years of service as a lineman with Bell Telephone. William was also a gifted wordsmith, avid surfer, and passionate organic gardener.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Lee Sherman; seven sons: William “Brian” Sherman (Liesa) of Seattle, WA, Terrence “Terry” Michael Sherman (Kathy Brennan) of FL, Richard Lawrence Sherman (Michele) of Springville, ME, Jeremy Wade Sherman of Asheville, NC, Chad Liston of ME, Allen Littlefield III (Lisa) of Rochester, NH, and Guy Littlefield (Robin) of Havelock, NC; two daughters: Amy Birss Sherman and Cynthia Clemence of West Newbury, VT; and his brother, Thomas Edward Sherman (Bonita) of Las Vegas, NV. He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and lots of great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear friend, David Albanese.
A celebration of William’s life will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Cherry Point Baptist Church in Havelock, NC, followed by a reception at the church.
