Jessie Carlsen,
My kids and all the kids at church called Hilton ( uncle Hiltie). He had the respect of all of them. He took his time to listen and gave answers when needed. He was kind and funny and you never saw anything other then sheer kindness from this man. I know how Nancy you are feeling at this time as i went through this trying time 4 years ago. May your childen be at your side and you will need each other now more then ever. May the joy and love he gave you be the gifts you will always remember. I love to paint pictures and i want to send you one i just painted.

Hilton was such an amazing man. He was welcoming to everyone. He always had a joke to tell, a hug to give, a smile to flash. If Hilton knew you, you were family! He loved his bikes, his family, life, his Savior. Hilton was an example of love and compassion.
He will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family. We love and miss you Nancy. We have done nothing but smile and have hearts full of warmth reminiscing about you and your sweet husband.

My husband, Larry, was a great judge of character and he shared with me that Hilton was one of the best--so of course he is!! We both thought of him with lots of love in our hearts.

We were foreigners in New Bern, from the North. Hilton welcomed us into his Family without batting an eye. He was a safe place for my baby girls, a role model, a playmate, and so much more. He and Nancy became my youngest daughters Godparents. The old saying, you can’t always choose your Family... Well we “chose” the Hartley’s. Hilton was, and will always be my Family. Hilton’s sense of humor, and fun loving Family values will always remain in my heart. ❤️
