Alice S. Goodwin

Born on February 16, 1922 in Savannah, Georgia, Alice was the daughter of Joe and Ella Sherrod. Joe was killed in WWII in 1946 and Ella passed away in 1996. On November 14, 1942 Alice married

the love of her life Kenneth Goodwin in Macon, Georgia and together they raised two children, Susan and Eric.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, her daughter in 1962. Alice is survived by her son Eric, daughter in law Carol, grandchild Jennifer and two great grandchildren, Kate and Emma

Newman.

Alice worked as a secretary at Western Publishing & Printing for approximately 17 years in Poughkeepsie, New York before

entering the nursing profession in 1973 and graduated with an R.N. degree in 1975. Alice was employed as a psychiatric nurse at Hudson River Psychiatric Center and Matteawan Hospital for the

Criminally Insane in Beacon, NY.

Alice was a humble person with a good heart, her Life was a testament of compassion, strength and dedication. Alice and Ken were members of the Church of Christ in Poughkeepsie, NY for many years.

Alice was able to live independently on her own until the age of 98 and then moved into assisted living. The family would like to thank all the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Eden Hill Nursing

Center for the care they provided during her final years.

Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Zoeller Funeral Home from 12 Noon to 1PM with funeral services following at 1PM. Alice will be transported to Hyde Park, NY for interment at the family plot for final burial.

Alice enjoyed the simple pleasures of sewing, crocheting, reading and spending time with her dogs and cats. Her gentle soul and caring heart will forever remain in our memories.
