Allan Edgar Weyel passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born July 2, 1934 in Marion, Texas to Edgar L. and Louise M. (Pfannstiel) Weyel. His great grandfather, Ferdinand Weyel Sr. immigrated at the age of 9 from Germany in March 1845 as part of the group that founded New Braunfels.
Allan attended Schertz-Cibolo schools until graduating his senior year from New Braunfels High School. He earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas. For most of his career, Allan worked at Kelly AFB initiating engineering improvements for operation and maintenance of the C5 Galaxy cargo plane and performed forensic investigations of plane crashes. Earlier in his career, he provided technical assistance as a subcontractor to the NASA space program on innovations to allow astronauts to precisely position the Apollo command module for re-entry to Earth’s atmosphere. Allan retired at the age of 55 and enjoyed a long and meaningful retirement actively serving his church, extended family, and friends.
People were always drawn to his personality. Along with being extremely intelligent, he was calm, patient, witty, and interested in what others had to say. He not only cared deeply about his faith, his extended family, his friends, his country and his German heritage but he took action to make a difference whenever he could. He served on St. Paul Evangelical Church committees and work groups for over 25 years. He used his ingenuity to repair things and his compassion to help others overcome their personal challenges. He was musically gifted and enjoyed entertaining friends with German songs on his accordion and harmonica. Allan enjoyed life-long learning, traveling, hunting and fishing. He stayed positive, loved to share a good laugh, and shared his Faith in his friendships and service to others.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Monroe Weyel and sister Edline Boenig. Allan is survived by: seven nephews and nieces, Dr. Pat Chancellor, Kathy Miller, Barbara Barbour, Nancy Bettis, Sharyn Moore, Dan Boenig, and James Boenig; 12 grandnephews and nieces; and 14 great-grandnephews and nieces.

And a special thank you to the staff of Oak Tree Assisted Living where he lived for the last two years. The family greatly appreciates the excellent skill and care Allan was given to enjoy his final years.
