Amalia Vega Carrera, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend has been called by Our Lord. Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Amalia came to New Braunfels in 1956. She became a Naturalized citizen and brought up a family of nine. She worked as a seamstress at Cater Frock Co and Lizann’s, and then for McKenna Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Guadalupe Vega; and by her husband, Lazaro Carrera Sr. Survivors include her children Carlos (Avelina), Lazaro Jr (Belia), Rogelio (Gloria), Raul (Nancy), Sergio, Amalia Gonzales (Jesse), Jesus “Chuy” (Barbara), Guadalupe Sierra (Juan) and Norma.
Amalia and her family want to give special thanks to Hope Hospice and Eden Hills staff. Pallbearers are Juan Carrera, Adrian Gonzales, Javier Gonzales, Miguel A. Carrera, Marco A. Carrera, JJ Siera, Jose Sierra, and Lazaro Carrera III.
Public Visitation will take place on Monday, May 6, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Braunfels, followed by a Graveside Service at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
