

December 27, 1958, Butch married Bertha Castro, thus beginning his amazing voyage as beloved family man and devout Christian. Butch was very active in his church and its ministries. Both he and Bertha are members of the First Baptist Church- New Braunfels. He served as Vice-President of the Texas Baptist Men and President of the Varones Bautistas from 1989-1991. He served as Ambassador (Tx Baptist Men) to Central America on behalf of the First Baptist Church of San Antonio throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s. Butch was an Ordained Pastor. He was also a community servant. He served on the New Braunfels City Council from 1992-1995. He was Mayor Pro-Tem in 1992. He was most recently serving as Civil Service Commissioner for the City of New Braunfels. Butch was also very involved with his children and their commitments. He participated with his boys in the NB Little League were he coached not only his young sons but many others.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Juventino Jr., Robert and Eloe, his sister Emma Trejo and his mother-in-law Teresa Castro.
He is survived by his wife Bertha, his sons; Rudy and his wife Nora; Richard and his wife Sylvia; Daniel and his wife Samantha; his daughter Rosa (Rosie) Vargas and her husband Joe and his most treasured gifts from God, his grandchildren; Rayanna and her husband Daniel Ellis, Zephani-Jordan, Brandon, Brittany and Megan Vargas, Richard, Ryan, Jacob-Daniel Vargas, Kameron, Christian-Ambrose, Luke; and his great-grandchildren; Roslyn Ellis and David Benitez Ellis; and sister, Esther Benitez.
Public Visitation will begin 4:00 PM Friday at Zoeller Funeral Home with a Prayer Service to begin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home until 9:00 PM Funeral Services will be held 9:00 AM Saturday 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church New Braunfels with burial to follow in Leal Cemetery in Pleasanton, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
