Anastacia (Anna) Ligas passed from this life into eternal life on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the age of 83. Anna was born on April 27, 1939, to Esteban Hernandez Ligas and Romana Garcia Ligas. Anna was a beacon of compassion and care for others, and her home and generosity was always open to family, friends, and visitors.
Anna was a devoted caregiver. In her early years, Anna helped to foster warm and loving environments for children of all ages as a nanny. Anna embraced her calling to provide for those in need, and her model of care was unconditional and unwavering. In addition to her many years of caring for children in her home, Anna was the primary caregiver for her father in his retirement and elder years. For over a decade Anna was a dedicated employee working for EdenHill Communities.
Anna will always be remembered as the storyteller and historian of the family. She could recall detailed memories of her early years as a child and young woman, stories of her family’s journey from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, her father’s long history as a grafter and horticulturist, and the stories and connections between her family and the New Braunfels community.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban and Romana Ligas; brothers, Pedro Ligas and Emilio Ligas; sisters, Isabel Castillo, Maria de la Luz (Lucy) Martinez, and Marcelina (Margie) Ligas; great-niece, Brenda Castillo; and great-nephew, Joshua Rodriguez. Anna is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.

Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
