Andie Lee Simmons, beloved son, husband, father, and brother passed from his earthly home into Heaven on June 18, 2010. Andie was born on December 26, 1975 to Keith & Teresa Simmons and big brother Roger, and became their most precious Christmas gift.
Andie attended New Braunfels schools, graduating from NBHS in 1994. He briefly attended Sam Houston State University, then came back to New Braunfels to attend Texas State University (then Southwest Texas). It was there that he met Brooke Allison Hill, the love of his life.
Andie was proud of his father, and followed in his footsteps by making law enforcement his career. He joined the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s office in 1998 as a corrections officer. In 2005, he became a certified peace officer, making his family so proud. He gained much respect from his superiors and co-workers over the course of his short career.
On October 4, 2003, Andie and Brooke were married. He was so proud to be with Brooke and loved her with all his heart. On August 4, 2009, his family was completed by the birth of his precious twin baby girls, Allison Grace and Addison Lee. Andie was the proudest daddy around and idolized his three girls. His family made him the happiest he had ever been in his life.
Andie loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Bagging a bull elk in Colorado in 2008 with his dad and brother was one of his favorite accomplishments. He actually shot two elk on that trip, delivering the final shot to Roger’s elk when he ran out of bullets. Andie enjoyed outdoor activities with Brooke and his baby girls.
Andie was a perfect son, and was always there for his Mom and Dad. The bond he had with his brother was overwhelming. He was a sweet, cuddly grandson to Grandmommie & Grandaddy and to Mama & Papa.
Andie is survived by his wife Brooke and cherished daughters Allison & Addison; his parents Keith & Teresa; his brother Roger & his wife Amy and his adored niece and nephew, Abbie Lee (named after Andie) & Ryan; his grandmother Ann Patterson; his mother-in-law Karen and his brother-in-law Jordan. Andie leaves behind loving aunts and uncles, Mike & Julie Ann Wiley and David & Kathy Nielsen, and cousins Mark Wiley & family, Brook England & family, and Richard Brady. He was preceded in death by his Grandaddy, Johnie Patterson, and his Grandparents Irven and Ethel Simmons (Mama and Papa).
Andie was loved by everyone who knew him and was blessed with many friends. There were several that he loved as brothers: Eric Richter, Bobby Anderson, Brandon Gold, Philip Fry, Shane Laurent, Jerry Rios, Casey Spence, and Larry Haeker. These men will honor their friendship with Andie by serving as pallbearers with Roger and Mark. Andie was a man of few words, but when he spoke, everyone listened.
He loved his family and friends, and they cherished him beyond words. He will be sorely missed on this earth, but those who love him know they will rejoice with him again in Heaven when God calls. It is only with God’s help that Andie’s family will endure through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the twins’ college fund; please contact Roger Simmons at [email protected] for details; or The 100 Club (a fund for fallen officers and fireman) P.O. Box 454, Seguin, Texas 78156, gc100club.org.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. . .For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
