Ardyce was born in Ettrick, Wisconsin to Alfred and Bernice Lien on September 19, 1937. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Ofsdahl, on September 3, 1955, in Ettrick, Wisconsin. Together, they built a loving partnership and family that spanned more than 70 years.
Though small in stature, Ardyce had a presence that was impossible to overlook. She had an uncanny wit and a remarkable attentiveness to the people around her. Caring for others seemed to come naturally to her. She was often the first to offer her seat, the last to eat, and the one quietly making sure everyone else had what they needed. One of her most-used phrases was, “Can I get something for you?” A simple question that perfectly captured the way she lived her life.
She loved having people in her home and took great joy in caring for family and friends. Ardyce was known for her baking and hospitality, even keeping meticulous notes about the meals she prepared for guests. She loved putting together puzzles and spending time cross-stitching, finding joy in the quiet, simple things that made a house feel like home.
Ardyce worked for H-E-B for 15 years as a supply chain coordinator for the trains. Alongside this work and beyond, she faithfully supported the churches and ministries she and Don served throughout their life together. As a pastor’s wife, she quietly gave of herself in countless ways, always ready to help and serve others. She also faithfully served the church as an organ and piano player, using her musical gifts as another way to contribute to the life of her church and community.
Above all, Ardyce will be remembered for the way she made people feel cared for. She noticed the little things. She remembered what people liked. She made sure everyone else was comfortable before considering herself. Her generosity was rarely loud or announced, it was simply woven into who she was. Her family and friends will forever remember her gentle attentiveness, her sharp wit, and her hospitality.
Ardyce was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ofsdahl and her son, Jay Ofsdahl. She is lovingly survived by her children, Jerome Ofsdahl, Scott Ofsdahl, and Sandy McNair; her grandchildren, Jannica Ofsdahl-Burge, Jennifer Brown, Sarah Ofsdahl, Donald Ofsdahl, Nicole Baker, Rachel Azzaro, Zachary McNair, and Jordan McNair; and her great-grandchildren.
