August Eddie Knodel “Shorty”, 79, of Marion, TX, passed away on March 13, 2019 at the Resolute Health Hospital. He was born to Willie August Knodel and Mary Mae Spangenberg Knodel in Seguin, Texas on January 1, 1940. Shorty retired from Mission Valley Textile Mill. He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, farming and coon hunting with his dogs. He was quite a dancer in his younger years and enjoyed the Crystal Chandelier.
He is survived by his wife Mary Knodel of Marion, TX; daughter, Sharron Kalisek and husband Brian of Pleasanton, TX; son, Eddie Knodel of Murfreesboro, TN and Ernest Knodel of New Braunfels, TX; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great –grandchild; brothers, Victor Knodel of San Antonio and Ernest Knodel of California. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Leroy Knodel.
Public Visitation will begin 3:00 PM Sunday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 6:00PM. A Chapel Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2019 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Reverend Rich Van Natter officiating. Interment will be held 12:30 PM at Caraway Cemetery in Leesville, Texas.
