

Carol was always proud to have grown up a North Missouri farm girl. She graduated from Lathrop High School in 1954. She attended Central Missouri State College in Warrenburg, MO where she met Dean Carlile. They married in November of 1955 and were married for 54 years until his death in 2010. Carol had two sons, Michael, and Doug. The family moved to Tulsa, OK in 1962 when Dean was transferred with Skelly Oil Company.
In 1974 Carol felt a calling to open a Christian Bookstore in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Carol started Gospel Book & Music and ran the store for thirty years. At one point owning four locations. Her oldest son Michael worked with her in the business and Dean did as well after retirement from Texaco.
In 1979-1980 Carol attended Rhema Bible Training College and graduated from their first-year program. When they added a second-year program Carol went back and attended in 1986-1987.
Participation in church choirs began in 1976 when youngest son Doug signed her up for a Bicentennial Choir. He thought that his mom had such a great voice, more people needed to hear it. After that she sang in church choirs until 2015.
Carol moved to New Braunfels, TX in 2011 after Dean’s death to be closer to her son and daughter-in law, Doug and Sara Carlile. She loved living in Texas. She had many friends in her apartment community.
She is survived by her two sons Michael (Michelle) Carlile of Sugarland, TX, and Doug (Sara) Carlile of New Braunfels, TX. Her grandchildren include Casey Carlile (Alex Weber-Kamin) of La Jolla, CA, Matthew (Haley) Carlile of Broken Arrow, OK, Andrew Carlile of New York, NY, Luke (Miranda) Carlile of New Braunfels, Texas; and Great-grandchild Nate Weber-Kamin. She is also survived by siblings, brother Jim (Julie) DeMoss, and sister Martha Gum of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
