As a young girl, Kay and family moved to Dallas where she grew up and went to school. Poodle skirts and Saddle shoes, Kay was a teenage girl of the Fifties. Besides her studies, Kay enjoyed choir and cheerleading, graduating from Dallas ISD Sunset High School, class of 1958. Kay then headed to Waco and Baylor University (she ran for Homecoming Queen), graduating in 1962 with a degree in Education.
In 1963 she was back in Dallas, teaching elementary school, when she met and caught her "Giant". Petite five-foot Kay married six foot five Byron Bradfute on December 28, 1963. Kay and Byron moved their family to New Braunfels in 1970. Kay enjoyed living in New Braunfels and made many close friends through the years. She was a stay-at-home mom but she was involved in all the school activities and civic activities as well; substitute teacher, community choir, Girl Scout leader, Sophienburg Museum volunteer. Kay was always involved with her Church family at NB Church of Christ. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and was asked to sing at many weddings and for many funerals.
Above all, Kay was known for her caring soul. Whether they were family, friends or strangers that she had met, Kay was a devoted caregiver with everything that she had, physically, financially and with her time.
Kay loved to travel and see beautiful places. She and Byron were able to visit many wonderful sites, both in the US and abroad. For 17 years they "Summered" in the mountain village of Cloudcroft, NM.
Our family would like to thank Hope Hospice, especially Faith Alvarez, and ALL of the staff at Rio Terra Senior Living for their care of Kay with a loving heart.
