

Cora Millett Coleman, age 88 years old, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2024. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was born on May 5, 1936 and weighed five pounds. Cora was the fifth child of Eddie and Lillian (Waiter) Millett both of whom preceded her in death. She had three brothers; Brother Rev. Eddie Millet, Jr., Henry Millett and Toney Millett who also preceded her in death.
She was united in holy matrimony to Shelby Coleman on December 23, 1958. Into this union were born two sons: Shelby Coleman, Jr. and Henry S. Coleman. Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother Great Grandmother, a sister, and aunt and a friend. After graduating from San Marcos High School she chose a career as a certified nursing assistant at McKenna Hospital. She retired from nursing after 25 years. She was a faithful and active member of Live Oak Baptist church where she was a member of the Missionary Society, President of the Gospel choir. Cora was chairperson of several associations. As a member of Lillian R. Heard’s Servant Women Fellowship Auxiliary in her church. She was also a member of; the American Legion Auxiliary Post #179. She volunteered a lot of her time to working with senior citizens. Cora came from a family that spanned five generations for over a decade. Cora enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and traveling. Cora was a kind, generous and compassionate woman. She suffered many health hardships in her lifetime, but faced all of them in stride as she looked ahead to what life held for her in the future. She cherished her memories of a loving and devoted family.
She is survived by her husband Shelby Coleman, Sr. Her son Shelby Coleman, Jr., his wife Teena, grandson Shelby Allen Coleman, his wife Deanna and great-granddaughter Evelyn, her son Henry S. Coleman, his wife Sandi, granddaughters Nicole Clifton and Heather Russell, great-granddaughters Haley and Mia. Cora also leaves behind one sister, Evelyn Armstrong, two brothers Herman and Corwin Millett, one Aunt Ethel Ellsion, brother and sister-in-law Alphonia and Mary Coleman, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
A public visitation for Cora will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Zoeller Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Live Oak Baptist Church.
