

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years Virginia R. ( Bueche ) Blackwell, daughters Debra Cunningham and husband Shawn, Denise Cox and husband Chris all of New Braunfels and his canine daughter Cinnamon. He was also blessed by three grandchildren Dylan Waine Cox, Casie Lyn Cox, and Kolby Adam Cunningham, as well as one brother Donald, brother and sister in- law Ron and Ellen Bueche, mother in law Nelda Bueche, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Curtis Waine Blackwell, his brother Richard, his parents Curtis and Alice Blackwell, father in-law Edmund Bueche and niece Marian.
Curtis was born December 6, 1939 in San Antonio, TX. Curtis began welding with his father at Blackwell Burner Company as a young boy at that point his love for the trade began. He began teaching welding at Gary Job Corps Center to students in 1967. He devoted his life to building a successful business (Blackwell Welding and Mfg.) for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mostly in his later years rebuilding his old fords and his 42 Cadillac Hearse. Curtis was very active with the New Braunfels Band Boosters, Board member of the New Braunfels Humane Society, and member of the New Braunfels Area Car Club.
His greatest accomplishment was leaving his knowledge with who ever crossed his path to help lead them in the right direction to succeed in life.
Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Zoeller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10:00 am at Zoeller Funeral Home with burial to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
