

Daniel Clinton Gilmer III of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by family at the age of 78. Danny was born in Memphis, TN on November 21, 1947, to Daniel C. Gilmer II (Paps) and Jancie Marie Williams Gilmer.
Danny was raised in Memphis, TN and he graduated from Central High School in 1965. That same year Danny enlisted in the US Army and served his country as a Tech Specialist. He married the love of his life, Vicky Lynne Smith Gilmer, in April 1970 and together they raised 2 children, Regenia and Daniel. Danny and his family moved to New Braunfels, TX in 1986. They were members of the New Braunfels Seventh-day Adventist Church, where Danny served for many years as a Deacon. Danny was proud to have served in the US Army and was a true patriot through and through. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0179, VFW Post 15045, and of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his bright smile and his genuine kindness.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel C. Gilmer, II and Jancie Marie Williams Gilmer; his son, Daniel C. Gilmer IV, and his sister, Regenia Anne Lea Musick (husband, Bobby Jack).
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Vicky Lynne Smith Gilmer; daughter, Regenia Lopez (husband, Matthew); granddaughter, Lindsey Lopez; and his sister, Angela Welch (husband, Jack).
A Celebration of Life for Danny will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
