Dean was an Eagle Scout and worked as a journeyman butcher before attending The University of California at Berkeley. He went on to work for Shell in the chemical and oil & gas industries for 50 years before his retirement in 2014. Dean enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying RC Airplanes, target shooting, gardening, traveling and shopping. He particularly enjoyed mentoring young people.
Dean is survived by his wife Carolyn Higbie, his daughter Pamela Ryan, grandchildren Avery and Piper, brother Kent and sister-in-law Karen, as well as numerous other beloved relatives and close friends.
The family will hold private celebrations of life and ask that you raise a toast to Dean in remembrance of all the happy times of his long, crazy, fulfilling life.
If you wish, please make a donation to your local volunteer fire department and the first responders who work so heroically to save people every day.
