Dewey Lawrence Chase, Jr. (DL) of New Braunfels, Texas passed away, surrounded by family, on October 20, 2018. He was born on August 1, 1949 in Gonzales, Texas to Dewey Lawrence Chase Sr. and Vera Faye Chase (Goode). Growing up in Fredericksburg Texas, Dewey graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1967. He followed his father’s footsteps by enlisting in the Navy. Following his service in the military, Dewey attended and graduated from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. Dewey married the love of his life, Terrie Lynn Chase (Jones) in Abilene on July 3, 1971.
Dewey spent much of his professional life in the wireless telecommunications industry. Building a successful business in Abilene in the early 1980s was one of his many professional accomplishments. In later years, Dewey worked in the cellular site development industry and was a pioneer in the industry working for McCaw Cellular in the early days of cellular.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog Dakota. Dewey is survived by Terrie Chase of New Braunfels, Texas, sister Linda Chase, son Eric B. Chase, daughter-in-law Trisha Krieger Chase, Grandchildren Addison Chase and Parker Chase, and his cat Hazel.
A celebration of Dewey’s life will take place at 5PM on Tuesday, October 30 at his favorite hangout, The Old Ice House in New Braunfels Texas. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making donations to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
