

Donald Cooper Maxcy, formerly DONALD C. of Victoria, Texas, died June 24, 2012. He was 92 years old. He was born December 5, 1919, in Rutherford, New Jersey, to the late Charles Josiah Maxcy and Marion Emerson Cooper Maxcy. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Janette Ferguson Maxcy.
Following graduation from the University of Maryland, with a degree in engineering, he joined the Army Corps of Engineers was promoted to the rank of Captain and served as a company commander in Europe during World War II. He joined DuPont in 1946 and worked in the Construction Department transferring to various plant locations throughout the United States. In 1978, he settled in Victoria. He retired from DuPont after 36 years of service in 1982. During retirement he pursued his passion for the game of golf and continued his advocacy of the game at the Victoria Country Club. He had a passion for golf winning the first tournament he entered at age 17 and still shooting his age in his eighties. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his children, daughter Linda Lee Skinner and husband, Jack of Lake Kiowa, TX; sons, Donald Cooper Maxcy, Jr. and wife Barbara of Glen Ellyn, IL., and Charles L. Maxcy and wife Vicki of San Marcus, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer McAllister and husband Jeff, Bill Bradley and wife Allison, Michael Bradley, Jr. and wife Heather, Marla Maxcy Bollom and husband Kevin and Jessica Maxcy; great-grandchildren, Connor, Josh and Kennedy McAllister, Blair and Emma Bradley, Oliver Bollom and Jenna, Kathryn and Jordan Jeffords.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 a. m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. Interment will be on July 3, 2012 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a. m.
