Don grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Burbank High School in 1964. He entered the electrical apprenticeship program with IBEW Local 60 and graduated in 1969, where he worked as an electrician for over 40 years in the city of San Antonio. When he retired, he spent his time supporting the Local 60 retirees club and joining a group of other local retirees for breakfast at Pica Taco, where they would spend hours reveling in tales of former glory.
Outside of work, his children were his pride and joy. Summers were spent vacationing in Rockport and Port Aransas, with an occasional road trip to Disney World. Don loved to travel and took trips with his wife from Alaska to California and throughout the southeast. Many hours were spent on Lake McQueeney teaching family and friends how to water ski and having people up to the lake house. Never one to sit still, Don spent his retirement building and managing projects for friends. No matter how large or small the project, there was nothing he couldn’t figure out and make work, truly a talented man. He was hardworking, true to his word man and always willing to put himself aside to help family. Don loved his Lord and Savior and will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Raetzsch and Doctor Vijak Gunuganti of Texas Oncology, SA Northeast and staff for the loving care these past three years.
