

Funeral arrangements are complete at the Zoeller Funeral Home for Donald C. Rodgers who passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2010 at home. He was born in Corpus Christi in August 14, 1934 to Allien Crippen and Hailey Clyde Rodgers. Don spent four years in the U.S. Navy after graduating with honors from Texas A&M where he was inducted in the honorary engineering society, Tau Beta PI. His Naval career, that of undersea ordnance officer, took him to duty stations in Albuquerque, Key West, Navy Annex at the Pentagon, Norfolk, Va. and one year at Keflavik Base in Iceland, where he and his wife Gene lived off base with an Icelandic family. After his military career he worked for Schlumberger as a regional engineer and moved to Houston in 1967, where he was employed by Mitchell Energy. Don moved to New Braunfels, Texas several years ago and enjoyed his fellow church family which gave him wonderful spiritual support.
Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin Ward who died in September 22, 2009 of breast cancer. He is survived by his former wife, Gene Kenny Rodgers; daughter, Andrea Hutton and grandchildren, Reese A. Ward, Layce and Logan Hutton. He is also survived by two cousins, Vara J. Koehn and William W. Cantrell and former sister-in-law, Sharon Vreeland of Corpus Christi.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in New Braunfels. The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to the Houston SPCA or the Texas A&M Alumni Fund.
