Dora was a radiant light of joy and love for everyone who had the chance to meet her. Her journey on this earth was filled with laughter, love, and unwavering kindness. Her absence has left an indelible mark on her family and friends. Let’s remember her not for her final days, but for the incredible way she lived and the lasting impact she had on those who were blessed to know her.
Dora will be fondly remembered for her passion for gardening (there wasn’t a flower she didn’t admire, especially her roses), her talent for crocheting (many of us were lucky enough to receive her creations), her skills in sewing and quilting (which many were gifted with), and her love for playing games, especially 66 (particularly when she could beat Norman!). She was also an exceptional cook, always eager to feed everyone and ensure no one went hungry.
She is survived and deeply missed by her husband of 70 years, Norman; her daughters Kathryn McNiel; Janet (and Keith) von Kohn; and Barbara Hummel. Forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Elise (and David) Garfield; Trenton (and Autumn) McNiel, Chris von Kohn; and Phillip and Tyler Vineyard, as well as her 5 treasured great-grandchildren.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents, Erno and Hertha Borchers, her son-in-law, Bobby McNiel, and brother-in-law, Patrick Mollenhauer.
Family being of such significance to her, she will not be forgotten by her beloved sisters: Leola (and Bobby) Jahns, Virginia (and Bob) Staats, Alice (and Hugo) Schwanz, Doris Mollenhauer, or by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends like Ann Tschirhart and Gladys Haecker, whom she considered sisters.
