Dorothy Buck Stark went to be with our Lord on Saturday November 17, 2018, while in New Braunfels. Dorothy was born in San Antonio, TX, on March 29, 1936 to Raymond and Thelma Buck. She grew up in the Pipe Creek and Bandera area. On November, 24, 1954 she married David R. Stark. They lived in San Antonio where they had three children. They were married for over 60 years.
Her entire professional career was at USAA. She started as a secretary, and soon became a claims analyst. Later she became a systems analyst in computer services.
She was an active member of Manor Baptist Church for over 50 years until its closing and then became a member of Woodland Baptist Church.
She was a multi-talented artist who worked in many mediums. She started her creative path as a painter and was a member of three different art guilds. Later she worked with silversmithing and jewelry making. For many years she designed and created stain glass windows. She also studied wood carving and had an interest in carving walking sticks.
After retirement she sewed extensively for charity and was an active participant in the Salvation Army annual Doll Charity Auction. She was an active member of the woman’s auxiliary of the Salvation Army where she did everything from passing out shoes to ringing the bell.
She was an adventurous woman that loved the outdoors, camping, and traveling with her family throughout the United States and Canada.
She believed in education and encouraged her children and grandchildren in all of their educational endeavors.
Dorothy is survived by daughter Debora Jo and her husband Alfred Barry, by her son David Stark, Jr. and his wife Denise, and by her daughter Denise and husband Tim Gross. She is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren: Shannon Barry Harvey and her husband Matt, Charlotte Barry, Grace Stark, and Micah Stark. One great grandson: Marsden Harvey. And by her faithful little dog Dee Dee. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Lester Buck and wife Jane; brother John Buck and wife Claudia; and sister Diane Walenta. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. Dorothy is proceeded in death by her husband David Stark and sister Janette Patton.
She will be greatly missed.
