

Mrs. Emma Kathryn Wisdom, born Sept. 16, 1913, in San Antonio, TX, passed away June 8th, 2011 at Eden Hill Community in New Braunfels, TX, after enjoying a beautiful life of nearly 98 years. Emma was preceded in death by her parents Capt. Carl Frey and Mrs. Gertrude Frey Sabo; her stepfather Master Sergeant Alexander Sabo and six brothers and sisters. She married Tom Wisdom, Sr. on May 29th, 1931 and enjoyed over fifty years of marriage. Tom, Sr. died in 1983. Their son, Capt. Jesse A. Wisdom died serving our country in February 1970. She is survived by her son, Tom Wisdom, Jr. and wife Judy of Blanco, Texas, daughter-in-law Joyce and husband, Lee Johnson of San Antonio, and four grandchildren: Tony Wisdom of New Braunfels, Katy Parker of New Braunfels, Terry Cass of Cibolo and Robin Law of Lake Placid and their respective spouses. Also, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a wealth of friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Emma and Tom were married in San Antonio, just before the great depression. Learning to live within their means was a strong lesson that carried over throughout her life. They moved to New Braunfels in July 1945. This was home for the Wisdoms. Emma was active in PTA at Lamar and New Braunfels Junior High. She cared for her family and enjoyed a wonderful social life bowling at the Social Club, playing bridge, as a member of the Gay Forties Club and the Elks Ladies Club. She worked at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park for over 25 years. She always had time for others. She was a Red Cross Volunteer at McKenna and Christus Santa Rosa Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 2008. She set a wonderful example for subsequent family members to follow. She was a member of the New Braunfels Presbyterian Church. Eden Hill was her residence and her extended family. She was getting out her fancy evening clothes for the Eden Hill Gala when she fell and broke her hip. Emma Wisdom loved life and loved her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home Thursday, June 9th at 5PM-8PM. Funeral Services will be at New Braunfels Presbyterian Church, Friday, June 10th at 10AM followed by interment at Guadalupe Memorial Park following the service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be considered for the new Wellness Center at Eden Hill Community, 631 Lakeview, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
