Ernest M. Bennett Jr.

Ernest Monnie Bennett, Jr. departed this life peacefully on September 16, 2013, surrounded by those who loved him most, his family. Monnie was born on October 19, 1952 to Ernest M. Bennett and Mattie (Mills) Bennett in New Braunfels. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, F.D. and Lela Mills of New Braunfels, and Wilson and Hattie Bennett of South Carolina. Monnie is leaving behind his wife of 25 years and best friend, Cindy (Schmidt) Bennett, his children, David and wife, Tatiana, and daughter, Jennifer. He also leaves behind his father, Ernest Bennett; sisters, Cheryl Seidel and husband, Doug, and Cathy Bennett, brother, Gary Wayne and Sally McBride, all of New Braunfels, and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many friends.

Monnie was always the adventurer. At a young age he developed a love for cars. He was always “working” on a car to make it go faster and look better. For several years he raced his ’67 Mustang at area drag strips. He also loved motorcycles, and got his first one when he was only 14. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting, baseball, and boating (especially riding the Sea Doos).

Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Wednesday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Boston officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Harmony Baptist Church.
