Ana Estella Parris, age 71, (lovingly known as Estella) of Cibolo, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was the third child born to Dodson Hinds and Minerva Scantlebury on July 19, 1953, in the City of Colon, Republic of Panama. Estella was baptized on January 1, 1967. She attended her primary school at La Escuela Maria Ossa de Amador, and her secondary school was San Vincent de Paul Catholic School. Estella migrated from Panama Republic of Panama to Brooklyn New York in 1972 and graduated from Prospect Heights High School in 1974. Even though they were neighbors and schoolmates prior to migrating to Brooklyn New York, she met her beloved Husband of fifty years and were married on August 1, 1974. From their union, two children were born, Wilhelmina Annett Parris and Ricardo Enrique Parris Jr. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunty, Cousin, and friend. She was a mother figure to her beloved sister Carol Hinds, brother Custis Hinds, Jose and George Brathwaite, Stanley Parris Jr., Shannon and Rashann Batiste. Estella was very meticulous; she was particular and adorable. Once she locked in on you, she would draw you in with her love. It seems like Estella knew everyone, at the hospital, grocery store, department store, the doctor's office, the nail shop, the barber shop, and the commissary. She would talk to complete strangers, when asked who was that, she would say we just met. Estella loved children and was always mindful of them. Estella was passionate about what she was doing, very meticulous, and focused. Her God given gift was hospitality. To her, it was making others feel special and comfortable while she was attending to their needs. Her gift was not a showcase; she practiced these gifts at home. When she was in Germany, she was over the local church hospitality. Her advice to those who wanted to be part of the team was, "if you don't treat your husband with the same compassion at home, you can't be a part of the hospitality team". To her, nothing was more precious and rewarding than seeing others sit at her table and feel special. It did not matter what she was doing, it was the presentation. Hospitality was her gift, and she excelled in it. She knew how to organize, arrange and prepare a meal. Estella was very meticulous in what she did, without apologies. It was once said of Estella, she was the only person who could make a simple Bar Be Que event feel like a formal gathering. She was not seeking complements; she was doing what she believed was her obligation to others. She didn't need a license nor a title; however, her action spoke volumes. Her mind was sharp as a tack; she knew how to multi-task. She would go to bed, but in her mind, she knew exactly what she'd been doing once she woke up the next day. Estella was a beautiful woman, she was elegant, witty, a fighter and will advocate for what she believes was right. Don't ask Estella to do something you did not want get done. Once you brought that idea or suggestion to her, she was already processing a plan in her mind how to accomplish it. Estella was a shopper, she didn't take good to online shopping. To her shopping was an adventure, she wanted to feel the texture of the fabric she would buy, seeing how it matches up with her skin tone. She would spend hours in the store, and sometimes she buys nothing. When she found a dress to intended to buy, she would ask the store clerk how long the dress had been on the rack. Is it due to be reduced, and if the clerk said it was, she would ask her to put it on hold. Grocery shopping was no different, she would go from one aisle to the next. She was not lost; she was just checking the prices. She will caution others, that a two for one sale was not really a Bargain, you had to consider what's the price of the individual item first.
There will never be another Estella A. Parris.
